Saturday morning check in at 10:30 began with Ethan Johnson, a speaker from Oakcliff Sailing on Long Island. Ethan described the various offshore races, fleets of boats, various clinics and series Oakcliff sponsors. Jasmine, a young sapling of the program spoke about her personal experiences racing offshore.
Harbor start was at 11:00am with competitors sailing out to the starting line off St’Mary’s Point in open waters on Long Island Sound. SW winds held steady most of the day with 12 knots. RC was able to get off 8 races due to combined divisions.
Upon returning to shore around 4:30pm competitors enjoyed pizza and ice cream compliments of Sail Black Rock Foundation.
Sunday morning has little wind so competitor’s had to be towed out to the starting area. RC went further offshore to get out of the lee of the land. A gentle breeze filled in to allow several quick races. As the day progressed the wind came up and courses had to be lengthened. Racing wrapped up early around 1:30 allowing for a quick awards ceremony with Yale as the permanent trophy winner.
Thank you to all the helpers especially Pierce, Jamie and Ku’uipo.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
