Big Red Invite

Summary

Saturday, September 18:

After a wind delay to start the morning, Cayuga Lake delivered great sailing conditions. We launched at 11am in a light northerly around 5kts and it freshened up throughout the day to a solid 12kts. We had two events running simultaneously: the Cayuga Lake Invite in the WhiteCap FJ's and the Big Red Invite in the WhiteCap 420's. Ten Races were held in each fleet with racing ending just before 5pm. All races were W4. Two protests were filed: HWS filed against Penn in the FJ's which was withdrawn at the end of the day. HWS filed against SUNY in the 420's resulting in a RAF. The conditions really delivered and was a good taste of the competition we will see this year.

Sunday, September 19:

Today again started out with a short delay until the Northerly filled in. It filled with about 5kts, and we completed 2 races in the 420's and 1 race in the FJ's. The breeze faded for about 30 minutes or so, and then came back in quite nicely around 8-10kts. We were able to complete the 14 races in each fleet at 1:10pm. One protest was filed, SUNY against KP in the FJ fleet, but was dropped at the end of racing. Thanks to Johnny Norfleet and Katherine Jones for helping out moving marks as needed. Thank you to HWS for bringing down a skiff to get coaches on the water. Another great fall competition weekend on the lake in beautiful sailing conditions!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
