Hurricane Dorian had already gone to the east by dawn so racing was held in 8-10 knot northerly breeze which was very spotty and puffy. Eventually the breeze faded and worked left into the WNW by the end of the day. Racing was halted after Race 8 in both divisions. A will start tomorrow in Fireflies and B will race in FJs.
Toni Deutsch '58 was an instrumental pioneer in our sport as she was the first woman at MIT to be awarded a varsity letter. She was a valuable player as MIT won two National Championships during her undergrad years. Toni continued to assist the Institute as the Chair of the Alumni Association, served on various visiting committees, and on the MIT Corporation Board.
The National Champion Brown Bears showed great comfort in the shifty conditions and have a healthy lead over Dartmouth, Bowdoin and the British University Team. Eight more races are scheduled in both divisions.
Franny Charles MIT Sailing Master
A WNW breeze at 5-12 knots held throughout the day but the lighter spots between phases became more and more prevalent. Lots of very tight racing exhibited by all of the sailors over 16 races in both divisions. The Brown Bears extended their lead to 50 points over second place MIT and third place Tufts. The Brits took home A Division honors and MIT won the B Division.
Farrell Wu and Mike Kanare did a fantastic job of recording and updating scores all weekend. Sarah Caso was on hand all of Saturday to assist as well.
Franny Charles was assisted by Miss Lucinda on RC for the weekend. Barky bark.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
