Tom Curtis Memorial Regatta

Summary

Saturday, October 5:

Teams were greeted by cool temperatures, overcast skies, and an easterly breeze this morning. The fleet sailed out in to the Potomac River, just south of Reagan Airport. Seven races were completed in a 4-12 knot easterly, shifty conditions ranging up to 45 degrees, and a light cross current. No protests were filed. Two breakdowns were filed and granted.

A big thank you to Georgetown sailors Marley Mais ('21) and JP Panarella ('22) for tag-teaming the Race Committee and George Washington sailor John Deruff ('21) for single-handing the mark set boat while moving the windward marks over a dozen times!

Sunday, October 6:

Another cool, overcast day at the Washington Sailing Marina. Eight races were completed in a steady southerly of 8-15 knots with a building incoming tide. No protests were filed.

A big thank you to Georgetown sailor Gwynie Dunlevy ('20) for single-handing the RC today, and another thank you George Washington University for their regatta support including lending their motorboats, radios, loud hailers, and start box!

Congratulations to the Hoyas, Wills Cook ('23) with Lena Brzezinski ('23) and Carly Broussard ('21) with Liz Fortunato ('23), for winning the 2019 Tom Curtis Memorial Regatta!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
