PCCSC Men's Singlehanded Championship

Summary

Saturday, September 28:

Great breeze and racing today. Starting just after 11am, the breeze was 5-7 knots from the southwest, but shifted to the right and increased in pressure as the day went on. The men got nine races, while the women got seven races. There was one breakdown where redress was granted. Thanks so much to the jury and umpire, Sky Adams and Claire Hunt and to the Gaucho team for staffing the RC boats. Thanks to the coaches for helping with breakdowns. It's a close race between the top three in the men's division for the top two qualifying spots to the 2019 Singlehanded National Championship in Santa Barbara on November 9-10.

Sunday, September 29:

A very breezy (18-22 knots) and shifty day in Santa Barbara with big swell made for difficult course adjustment, but once all was in place the ladies got three races quickly in, while the men got four races in. The top three were close for the duration of the regatta as they fought it out for the top two spots. Cal State Long Beach's lone sailor loved the breeze and rattled off four bullets, while UCSB and Stanford duked it out for the second place spot. After an exciting last race then entailed some penalty turns, Stanford prevailed with UCSB on the outside looking in by two points. There was one breakdown where redress was filed and granted. Congratulations to Paul Didham (CSU Long Beach) and John Kirkpatrick (Stanford) on advancing to the Singlehanded National Championship held in Santa Barbara on November 9-10. Thank you very much to our umpires, Chris Weis and Claire Hunt, and the UCSB Gauchos for providing race committee.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
