A light Northerly wind straight down the valley was enough to propel the turbo-charged Larks around the track for several races in each division. After 4 A races B went went out for two but 4 B was abandoned when the wind shifted to the East. The Easterly was not stable enough for more racing. Big thanks to Jack Duncan'19 for running races with the help of a port-line crew, score keeper, and dock crew.
Hot soup and cookies were provided by the Nickerson family as they do each year, and a Parent's Reception followed racing at the end of the day on the top floor of the Bacow Sailing Pavilion.
A medium but variable SE wind kelp sailors guessing on Sunday as PRO Jack Duncan'19 cranked out several more races in steady cold rain. Tufts B division sailors got hot to pull away from Brown, Coast Guard and the Jumbo Ladies team. The wind gusts increased to over 15 knots which capsized a few less experienced sailors.
Many thanks again to Jack Duncan and a team of undergrads. Julia Fuller'17 was also on hand to hear protests but none ensued. Dockmaster was Tufts co-captain Matt Galbraith, score keeper was Marisa Permatteo. A few rain soaked undergrads shared duties in the port-line to virtually eliminate general recalls.
Great to see an out-of-conference team from South Florida stretch their legs in the Turbo Larks.
