The Susan Rogers ’75 Memorial Regatta honors not only Susan, but the entire Rogers Family and their commitment to sailing. The ICSA officially recognized women’s sailing in 1967, and Susan was among some of the first women sailors, pioneering women's sailing at Cornell. It is our honor to pay tribute to Susan and the extended Rogers family at this annual regatta.
We ran a combined division event this year with 16 boats on the starting line. Sailors arrived to a light southerly that was forecasted to build throughout the day. After the first start went off, we were half-way up the first leg when a line of storms popped up. We promptly abandoned the race and sent sailors to shore just before the squall hit and the downpour started. We were delayed for about an hour and a half on land to let things pass and launched again at 11:30am. Breeze was soft at first but quickly came back to where it was to start the day around 8kts.
The first 6 race used an I-Flag start to get things rolling. All races were W4's except race 6 was a W3, followed by a short break on land. Coaches were on the water.
The remainder of the day was partly sunny with winds ranging from 5-12kts out of the SSE. In total we ran 12 races on the day and will plan to finish with race 15 tomorrow. One protest was filed between UPenn and Queens, but ultimately withdrawn.
There were no general recalls. No Breakdowns or redress filed.
Cornell leads the way heading into Sunday.
The forecast wasn't ideal and we showed up to a glassed off Cayuga Lake with overcast skies and misty fog lining the lake edge. An unexpected Northerly filled in quickly and we were out on the water at 10am. The breeze freshened up to a steady 15kts over the first two races. The 3rd and final race of the day saw the breeze soften up to about 6-8kts, but with the residual waves it made racing more tricky. All races were W4's. No general recalls. No protests, redress or breakdowns filed.
We were able to complete 15 races on the regatta and teams got on the road a by 12pm on Sunday.
Cornell wins the 3rd Annual Susan Rogers Memorial with a convincing win in the division!
Thank you to the Rogers Family for stopping by to cheer on the Big Red!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
