The inaugural Oyster Bowl enjoyed the first taste of Fall weather in the Chesapeake Bay region. A cold front that followed The remnants of Hurricane Michael brought brisk northwesterly winds to the St. Mary's River. The breeze started as a light northerly that backed and built to a 15-18 knot northwesterly. As the day wore on, the breeze shifted back to the north and dropped to the 8-10 knot range with big shifts.
PRO Charlie Lomax ran 8 W-4 courses for both Fleets in this new combined-division event. Thank you to ICSA president Mitch Brindley, Kevin Jewett, and Janel Zarkowsky for serving as protest committee. One protest was heard, resulting in one DSQ.
Unfortunately, the breeze never filled so the regatta was called at 1pm.
