The first day of the Faye Bennet MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship went well. It was partly cloudy with temperatures in the 70s. Wind was from the northeast at 8-12 knots all day and we had approximately 1/4 knot of current going against the wind in the morning and with the wind in the afternoon. We set a course in the Chesapeake Bay off Greenbury Point and ran four races before a lunch break and another 4 races after. All courses were W4 and races were 20-25 minutes long. Peter Hogan and Hamrick Morgan served as on the water judges and issued two penalties under PCR 32. No protests, breakdowns or redress requests were filed.
Sunday started out with some fog and light rain. The wind ENE at 10-15 knots. As the morning progressed, the wind lightened up while shifting left. A light current ran against the wind for most of the morning and we had a number of general recalls. The 6 remaining races were completed without a lunch break. After racing, one protest was heard by Peter Hogan, Hamrick Morgan and Charlie Lomax, resulting in a DSQ for Georgetown's Macey McCann in race 11. Congratulations to the top 4 for advancing to ICSA Women's Singlehanded Nationals and to George Washington's Riley Legault for winning the Faye Bennet MAISA Singlehanded Championship.
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
