The Pine Trophy is named after Real Admiral James Pine who was the Academy's Superintendent during the original construction of the Jacobs Rock Sailing and Seamanship Center. First sailed in 1943, this marks the 76th edition of the event.
Racing got underway at 11am in a beautiful Northerly that ranged from eight to fourteen knots. Although the velocity tapered a bit, the direction remained consistent through race eight. Race nine was sailed in a very light easterly after which racing was called for the day.
All races were W4s. No protests were filed.
Racing started promptly at 10am in a perfect northerly that ranged from eight to twelve knots. After the second race of the day, the breeze slowly clocked to the right making for puffy and unpredictable conditions. The current increased throughout the day. Five races were completed in challenging but fun conditions. All courses were W4s. No protests were filed.
Thank you to the Coast Guard Academy Offshore Sailing Team for running fourteen quality races this weekend. Almost the entire team pitched in to help with the effort, which was very much appreciated by all of the competitors and coaches. Thank you as well to Dave Thompson from Dartmouth for serving as the NEISA rep.
Congratulations to Brown for winning the 2018 Pine Trophy. Congrats as well to Yale and Dartmouth who, along with Brown, will advance to the NEISA Match Race Championship for the Larry White Trophy. It was a good weekend for the Ivies on the Thames!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
