Stu Nelson

Summary

Saturday, September 16:

What a Great Day to be on the Thames River. The Sailors enjoyed their later start and arrived ready to compete. We had a History presentation that covered the making and trading on Wampum on the Thames River. The Breeze Filled in around 11:30am from the SE at 6-10 knts. The SE Breeze stayed the whole day for great 11 Long tough Races. The Last race of the day was Sailed in SW at 4-6 knts. Thanks to all of the Conn undergrads that helped with RC. A big Thank You to Skip White for being the ICSA Rep and helping to filter suggestions from coaches and a resource for me to ask his opinion on RC management. 6 Races sailed in Both Divisions. Racing Continues on Sunday at around 10:30am. One Protest was heard resulting in a DSQ. Thanks to Mike Kalin and Dave Thompson for hearing the protest.

Sunday, September 17:

The Fog greeted the Sailors on the Thames today. It was thick and the Wind was from the North. Mike Kalin stepped up today as the ICSA rep. He kept the communication flowing and clear between the PRO and visiting teams. There was a point when it seemed that we would not sail today. Mike kept everyone focused on our task. As the fog lifted and the SE Breeze filtered done the Shore and built to 6-8 Knts, we only had time for 1 race in each division. The RC sent each Division on a W 5 for their only race of the day. Congrats to Yale for Winning the 2017 Stu Nelson. Yale won both Races today. Mike O Connor and the Yale Coach heard 1 Protest that resulted in a DSQ. Thanks to the Connecticut College Undergrads that helped on RC.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
