The wind was light and caused delays early in the day but we got through the first round robin except for the last race between BC and Northeastern which was abandoned and will be re-sailed first thing tomorrow morning.
This regatta is a result of a massive amount of help and work from many people: PRO Bill Canfield and former Corinthian YC Commodore Ken Adam with assist from MIT freshman Preston Tower ran the signal boat with help from CYC members Mark Toso and John Hope managing the windward and alternate marks. MIT Sailing Master Fran Charles, MIT freshman Kaila Pfrang, and CYC member Ery Largay were managing the rotations and special thanks to Kaila for registration help.
CYC members Ben Blaisdell and Joe Fava provided huge help in pre-regatta boat preparation and getting things running today. Ben and Rick Myers were the bosuns, dealing with many small issues and one spinnaker shiv failure requiring full replacement of the shiv(dropping mast and all).
CYC bridge officers including Commodore Howie and Vice Commodore Harris were instrumental in supporting this event as well as providing breakfast before and hot food after each day of sailing. CYC member Forbes Barber, Dockmaster Jack Carney, and Club Manager Dave Titus gave tons of help and support on every aspect of boat and house preparation for each day's action.
Equipment was provided by Eastern Yacht Club (4 sonars, thank you to Peter Frisch and Greg Wilkinson for coordinating) and 3 RIBs plus a sonar was provided by Pleon Yacht Club (thank you to Jared Rodriguez and the Pleon Board for supporting this event.)
John Tagliamonte led an umpire crew composed of Sam Madden, Abby Rohman, Tony Weiner, John Moulthrop, Paula Grasberger, Abigail Rohman, Rex Cameron, Nate Greason, and Charlie Lalumiere with help from Danny Rabin and other NEISA coaches to recruit their help.
One race between Boston College Sailing and Northeastern University remains in the first round robin which will determine the seeding as the event moves into its second stage. Full results are below through race 27. The second stage features best of 3 matches between schools in format that resembles march madness. 1. Boston College - 5 Wins 2. Bowdoin College - 5 wins 3. RWU Sailing - 5 wins 4. Brown University - 4 wins 5. University of Rhode Island Rams - 3 wins 6. Connecticut College - 2 wins 7. MIT Varsity Sailing Team - 2 wins 8. Northeastern University - 1 win
Forecast for tomorrow is for building breeze and report time was shifted to 9am to try to maximize racing in the great sailing conditions predicted.

Great racing today as the fog burned off at just the right time and the SW breeze settled in and built slowly from 5 knots to low teens throughout the day. The quarter-finals saw BC and Brown advance 2-0 with Conn and RWU and MIT-Bowdoin going all three races in the best of 3 series. Bowdoin passed MIT and burned a penalty at the pin to advance while Conn while Conn beat RWU. The best of 5 semi finals saw BC beat Brown 3-0 and Bowdoin beat Conn 3-2 in a very close series. Bowdoin and BC advanced to the finals and BC won the best of 3 series 2-1 while Conn beat RWU in a best of 1 deciding match for 3rd and 4th.
In the 5-8 round, MIT and URI advanced against RWU and NU respectively to sail for 5-6, with MIT winning that match and RWU beating NU in the 7-8 sail-off.
Congratulations to BC and Bowdoin for advancing to the ICSA national champs in Charleston in November.
In addition to the help listed below, CYC member Will Bailey and Allison Ferraris helped Rick Myers on the bosun boat and MIT freshman Isabelle Yen took on Preston Tower's job on the signal boat for the day.
