Moody Trophy

Summary

Saturday, October 7:

Beautiful day on Salt Pond with warm temps and super steady southerly breeze building gradually from 4-9 kts. Good starts, clear lanes and boatspeed ruled the day. After 6 A and B races Harvard leads followed by Yale and St. Marys. PRO Skip Whyte assisted by scorers Sarah Morin and Taylor Borges kept the racing moving along at a rapid pace. Many additional Rams supported the event operating 3 Whalers to ferry competitors to Gardiner's Island, adjust the course and ferry teams to the rotation zone. Lots of logistics and seamless execution. Sunday promises to be a high energy affair with winds over 20 knots.

Sunday, October 8:

Another great day on Salt Pond. S-SW breeze all day, initially below forecast for the first 3 race A set, then followed by a big build and rain for the B set. Racing was incredibly close all day, but Harvard, Yale and St. Mary's continued to gradually extend on the rest of the field. Going into the final A-B race Yale looked solid with an 8 point lead on St. Mary's but dropped 10 points to St. Mary's in 10A. Yale got 1 back in 10B but St. Mary's had the win by 1 point, with Harvard 3rd. PRO Skip Whyte was assisted by Tayor Borges and Ally Kramer on the signal boat with another 10+ Rams assisting with mark set, rotation shuttles, breakdown assistance (none during racing) and island shuttle services. No protests heard, but 2 RAFs. Good sportsmanship all around. See you next year.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
