Faye Benent - MAISA Women's Singles

Summary

Saturday, September 23:

The MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship for the Faye Bennet Trophy took place today in classic Annapolis fashion. Sunny, 85 degrees, motor boats a plenty and fickle winds. Race one was sailed in a light northwesterly in the Severn River before the breeze shifted due north forcing race committee out to the entrance of Back Creek where three more races were sailed in 6-8 knots before lunch. After lunch, the wind shifted even further right, and continued to die, so the fleet took a leisurely cruise out past Greenbury Point to sail two more races in a dying easterly. No protests were filed. Thank you to Juliet Thompson and a whole host of midshipmen for helping out on Race Committee. Hopefully we will find the wind tomorrow morning.

Sunday, September 24:

This morning races were started in a 6-8 knot northerly in Whitehall Bay. The breeze slowly died all morning so that by the end of the fourth race, it was no longer within the wind limit to start any more races. Sailors went to shore for a brief lunch break, then towed around Annapolis harbor searching for the wind. We never found it. Congratulations to Lola Bushnell from Georgetown for winning the MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship, and the top five boats for qualifying for the ICSA Singlehanded Nationals.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
