Sailors were greeted with fog and no wind. Around 0945 the fog started lifting and a light northerly was filling in. At around 1030 we had a harbor start and we sailed 2 races in a light northerly. Race 3 was attempted and then quickly abandoned and sailors were sent in for a lunch break. The Southerly finally filled as forecast and racing for the rest of the day was sailed in a building SW of 10-28mph. All courses were W4 right off the USMMA pier. No protests or requests for redress were filed. One BKD was granted due to a sheared rudder bolt.
Thank you to the USMMA midshipmen for helping run the regatta. Tomorrow we have 4 races to close out the 2017 Carl Van Duyne.
Day 2 of the Carl Van Duyne started out with threatening storms and rain. The storms cleared right before our scheduled warming of 0945 and we launched at 0925. The course was set and race 11 started in a SSW at 18-23 MPH. We sailed all 4 races with only a slight delay to fix rudder gudgeons and change out a boom. After the event all sailors carried boats up off the dock and racked them.
One protest was filed and disallowed. Thank you to Mitch Brindley, Morgan Collins, Ben Mohney, Christine Accettella and Rob Overton for helping hear it.
Congratulations to Gary Prieto USNA '18 for winning the Carl Van Duyne and the top four competitors for qualifying for the 2017 ICSA Singlehanded Nationals at USF November 4-5.
Thank you to the USMMA Midshipmen for helping run a quality event!
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
