The annual Canadian-American Cup was held this weekend at Kingston Yacht Club, the home of the Queen's Gaels. Thank you for all of the Canadian and American teams who made the trip to sail on Lake Ontario in the freshwater sailing capital of the world!
Teams arrived at 9 am for report time and a competitors meeting held by Queen's representative Zac Baum and PRO Ross Cameron. The day started out with 15-18 knot winds from the North East, and as the day went on the wind dropped to 8 to 12 knots and clocked North. A division left the dock for their first race at 9:45 am. After a large barge going through the race course caused an AP on the first start, racing started off at 10:20 am.
Both A and B fleets had fast sets on the water and were able to get in 3 full rotations, 12 races in total. Current was a major factor affecting many teams on the water today and resulted in multiple O.C.S. penalties across the board.
There were two protests filed, one was dropped prior to the hearing, another to be heard tomorrow (Sunday).
Teams arrived again at 9 am for report time and were met with an AP on shore due to lack of breeze. Around 11am, the wind filled in from the South-West at 4-6 knots and built to 15 knots to wrap up the last few races.
Both A and B fleets had fast sets on the water with the RC only a few hundred feet away from shore, and were able to get in 2 full rotations, 8 races in total. No protests were filed.
Thank you to all teams for coming out and again to PRO Ross Cameron for getting 20 races off over 2 days.
Congratulations to 1st place Queen's 1, 2nd place McMaster, and 3rd place Queen's 2.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
