Teams from across NWICSA converged on Lake Whatcom for the annual Frosh-Soph Regatta. Saturday greeted us with extremely gusty and shifty conditions out of the south from 12-23 knots. This held for an entire rotation, until the cold front moved past us. As the front passed, the wind took a hard turn to the west and gradually faded. Racing was called for the day around 3pm as conditions became too light and variable. Andrew and Ashley Nelson led a debrief for the group following racing.
Sunday was another big day with a gale warning posted for the Northern Inland Waters that afternoon. A fleet left the dock at 1030 with a solid 15-20 kts out of the South. The breeze was much more settled and less puffy. Races were completed quickly and efficiently in similar conditions until a big spike in velocity during race 7B, which included gusts up to 25 knots. The fleet was sent ashore as they crossed the finish. We waited it out for about 15 minutes until conditions were back to the 12-17 knot range before completing race 8B, which concluded the regatta. About 45 minutes after racing was over we observed puffs in the low 30's. Needless to say we were grateful to be off the water! Big thanks to WWU for hosting and all of those who helped put on the regatta!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
