The 2016 Intrepid Trophy Match Race started out with a rainy northeasterly breeze that started out at 8-12 knots and slowly dropped to nothing throughout the day. Periods of extremely heavy rain made things interesting. Huge thanks to Rick Sellars for working on the Race Committee, David Clinnin, Charlie Arms and the coaches for umpiring. We ended up completing one round robin and the scoring grid is posted on the notice board. Navy and Georgetown are currently tied for first with 5 points, with Navy holding the head to head advantage.
Sunday started out overcast with a light northeasterly breeze. We went out and completed two flights before the wind died completely and we came in for an early lunch. The sun came out, a light southeasterly breeze filled in and racing resumed. One flight remained in round 2 when 3:00 rolled around, so we used RRS C10.4 to determine the scores. Congratulations to Navy winning the 2016 Intrepid Trophy Match Race, beating Georgetown on a head to head tiebreaker. The scoring grid is posted on the notice board.
