Faye Bennet MAISA Womens Singles

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

The 2016 Faye Bennet MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship started out with a cloudy northeasterly day. We set a course in the mouth of the Severn River, just off Bembe Beach and the mouth of Back Creek. Four windward leeward races were sailed in the morning in winds ranging from 12-18 knots. There were significant shifts and pressure differences, making for some interesting races. After lunch, we returned to the same spot and sailed four more races, but the pressure was down a bit, ranging from 8-12 in the afternoon. There was a lot of boat traffic and the wind was still shifty and puffy. David Clinnin was on the water all day enforcing rule 42.

Sunday, September 25:

Sunday was a tricky day in Annapolis. Skies were sunny, and we got going with a 12-15 knot northeasterly. The breeze quickly faded though and after three races, the amount of powerboat chop made sailing impossible. We came in for a short lunch break and then went back out to a new course set in the Chesapeake Bay, just east of Greenbury Point. The wind was light, just over 3 knots, but we were able to get the final three races in just before the time limit expired. Congratulations to the top 5 for qualifying for singlehanded nationals and to Haddon Hughes from Georgetown for winning the 2016 Faye Bennet Trophy.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
