Chris Loder Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

It's the Charles. "nuff said". Thanks first to MIT for allowing the UNH Wildcats host the 19th annual Chris Loder Trophy due to our dam repairs - due to be finished in December. Teams reported and were treated to a 'lesson' from Chris Loder around ones future; the individual, community, investment and balance kind. $20 later....... Always thoughtful and engaging. Hope everyone learned a lesson.

The wind was all over the place, velocity up and down, 90 degree shifts, fake headers and so forth. Thanks everyone, all 72 of you for all your patience. 4 races were sailed by the end of the day. One protest resulting in a DSQ. Tomorrow teams switch fleets. Tight racing for the top 5 teams. Tomorrow breeze is expected to be up AND a teeny bit steadier.

Super thanks to al the many new Wildcats who managed the finish boat, Savannah, Nicole, Ruedi, mark boat Nick, Allison and Tom who saw some great roll tacks as he assisted in the RC boat. Dartmouth and UConn still need to fill our their RP forms.

Sunday, September 25:

A huge thanks to MIT staff, Ian especially, for making this event run smoothly. Fran and Matt, thanks so much, many teams reach out and are always accommodated by you at MIT, the backbone of collegiate sailing in so many ways. Next year Mendums.

The Charles was kinder today with breeze predominantly coming from the NW, creating only a few super shifts and many minor ones, and often light squirrely breeze up around the MIT dock area. Big breeze often meant a right hand shift but, not always. Auto tacks were fun to watch. Breeze was 8-15 plus in gusts. A few general recalls, some boat bumping and quickly executed spins made it easy on the protest committee. Reece's were awarded to first place finishers occasionally for a much desired sugar hit.

Thanks to the patient sailors, especially BC who helped with some scoring snafus which were sorted out. Super thanks to the Wildcats. Madison on the RC boat and hand in the chilly water helped to move marks most of the day, Sean served as score inputer, help cook Wildcat Muffins (he's an expert now) for breakfast , and grilled hot dogs at lunch all at the same time, Trevor Loundsbury, who along with Kelsey managed the finish line which at time was challenging. They all were awesome. Behind the scenes is where the hard work happens.

Congratulations to Tufts for winning the 19th annual Chris Loder Trophy.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
