The first day of the Hampton University Teach Memorial Regatta saw NE winds in excess of 20 knots sustained. The challenging conditions saw many boats, and crews, sailing to their maximum effort in one of the first regattas of the season.
We sailed 6 races today in combined divisions. There were 2 protests that were filed, with the 1st protest resulting in HU bringing disqualified for breaking Rule 10. In the 2nd protest, the result was that UVA was disqualified under Rule 15.
It is our plan to continue the Teach Memorial Regatta at 9am on Sunday, and we anticipate concluding all scheduled races.
As a side note, the ICSA Online Individual Directory is working, so please file all teams please file RP forms for all team members online as soon as possible.
We continued the Teach Memorial Regatta on Sunday with less challenging conditions. The winds were a more modest 6-11 knots, coming out of the NE. We were able to sail 6 more races, for a total of 12 races completed, with no protests filed today.
Thank you to the teams that put much effort into sailing into these early season challenging conditions.
Congratulations to Hampton University Pirates for winning the 2015 Teach Memorial Regatta.
Special Thanks to the entire Race Committee team.
