'Character building' conditions on the Charles River made for some very fun sailing today. Under overcast skies with a raw NE breeze at 15-35 knots competitors sailed 10 races in Fireflies and Tech Dinghies. Courses were triangles twice around and triangle, windwards. A started in Fireflies with B Division in Techs. Boat types were switched after race 8.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with finishing, scoring, and rescue duty. They were Alex Bost, Christopher Ford, Libby Zhang, Trevor Long, Pavlina Karafilis, Angela Duplin Hickey, Hugh Dougherty, Tucker Charles, and Wally Corwin.
The event honors George Warren Smith who spent countless weekends running intercollegiate races at MIT. Professor Smith was an inspiration to many as he sailed his own star boat into his nineties at the Sandy Bay YC in Rockport.

Another blustery day on the rivah! Sailors enjoyed 5 races in 15-25 knots from the east with some regular oscillations. Thanks to MIT Engineer volunteers Robyn Lesh and John Michael for their help on the dock and the water. Three protests were heard with three DSQs. Congrats to Boston College Eagles for winning the Smith Trophy (and A-division), and to Tufts for winning B-division.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
