Day 1 at the Nevins Trophy sailors were greeted to a building southerly. We started the first race at 9:45 and sailed 6 total before a lunch break. Before lunch the breeze was S to SSW 7-17 knots. After an hour break we started race 7A at 2:05 and the breeze freshened up to 13-20.0 knots and many teams made the windy crew switch. We finished the days with 10 races and sailors were back on shore around 4pm. Courses were modified trapezoids all day. The current was a factor causing some chaos for some finishes.
1 protest was disallowed. 1 BKD was granted for a universal joint breaking inside the tiller extension. Tomorrow we will hear a redress before sailing. Thanks to Charles Higgins and other coaches for hearing the protest.
Thanks to the KP sailors for setting the marks and helping run the event.
Day 2 at the Nevins Trophy started with glass. We were postponed on shore until 1100. A very faint northerly filled in and the fleet went out. When the sailors arrived to the racing area, it was still very light so we remained in a holding pattern. Race 11A started around 1145 with NNE winds at 5 knots. All three divisions got one race off before the wind died completely. At 1300 the regatta was postponed ashore. At 1345, it was clear there would be no more racing for the day.
Thank you to Charles Higgins for hearing a redress and protest which were both disallowed. After the regatta was called, all sailors helped rack the laser fleet which was greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to the Georgetown Hoyas for winning the 2014 Nevins Trophy!
Thank you to the KP Midshipmen for running the event!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
