It was a beautiful day in Annapolis for the 2014 MAISA Laser Elimination, with sunny skies and temperatures near 80 degrees. After the competitors meeting, sailors headed out to a course set in Annapolis Harbor in a shifty northerly breeze. Three W4 races were sailed before the wind died and the fleet was sent in for lunch. After a short lunch break, the fleet headed back to a light southeasterly breeze. One more race was held before the wind died again. After a lengthy postponement ashore, racing was called for the day. Special thanks to PRO Kyle Assad, judge Killian Corbishley and the Midshipmen on Race Committee for getting the most out of the conditions they were given.
Competitors arrived SUnday to another beautiful day in Annapolis, but no wind to sail in. After a lengthy postponement ashore, the fleet was sent out in a light Southeasterly breeze for a 11:45 first warning. Despite light winds, moderate current and lots of powerboat chop, Kyle Assad and his RC team did a great job running quality races throughout the afternoon, while judge Killian Corbishley kept the racing fair. Congratulations to Navy's Phil Youngberg, Georgetown's Clay Broussard, UPenn's Keen Butcher, Navy's Peter Hogan, Georgetown's Jack Marshall and Old Dominion's Jeremy Herrin for advancing on to the Carl Van Duyne MAISA Men's Singlehanded Championship at Navy on October 11-12.
