It was a special weekend for the Hobart and William Smith Sailing Team and the Arnoff family. This weekend we celebrated the legacy of David Lee Arnoff, Hobart Class of 1982. David was a passionate and accomplished sailor. The HWS Fall Regatta was named in his honor. A perpetual half-model trophy, The David Lee Arnoff Trophy, will serve as a reminder that dedication, passion and friendship are important in all our endeavors on and off the water. All of these qualities were important to David.
Saturday’s twelve races, six per division, were sailed in a moderate north/ northwest breeze. Courses were either a W4 or W3. The racing was close and the spectating from the hill was spectacular on this beautiful fall day.
Sunday, under crystal blue skies, A Division was able to get two races in before the south breeze began to shut off. B Division was only able to get in one race. We waited for two and a half hours before the regatta was called at 2:00pm.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges won the inaugural regatta with St. Mary’s finishing second and Cornell third.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
