The 2nd annual Central Coast Challenge brought a bigger fleet and bigger breeze. 18 teams showed up and got squalls blowing through puffing into the low 20's. The Race Committee which had gotten off two A races, decided to move the course under the pier for more protection and to keep racing running. There were 6 B races run and 4 A races run in shifty, lighter conditions under the pier. No protests were filed.
HUGE thank you to the 2nd year Westmont College Sailing Team for running and saving this event. Without the help of team captain, Sarah Davis ('15) and team VP, Amy Woo ('16), the event would not have been run. Additional help from the Westmont Sailing Team and UCSB Sailing Team was in place as Race Commitee and Mark Set.
More big breeze expected tomorrow...
The 2nd annual Central Coast Challenge happened on Halloween weekend and was run by the 2nd year Westmont College Sailing Team with assistance from UCSB Sailing Team members. Sarah Davis ('15) and Amy Woo ('16), team leadership and founding members for the Warriors staffed all Race Committee boats with their sailors. Over the course of the two days, 18 warriors sailed or helped with race committee / race organization. Despite the somewhat overwhelmingly big breeze for the event, they were able to get off 8 races and with 18 teams attending, the event was definitely a success.
No protests were filed and racing took place mostly under the pier to protect from storm cells that were bringing large puffs. Sunday racing ended earlier due to a 180 degree windshift and unstable conditions.
Again, thank you to Westmont and UCSB sailing volunteers for running the event and thank you to all the teams who made the trip out.
Congratulations to UCSB, Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, and Long Beach State who rounded out the top 5.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
