It was a typical but tricky day on the Thames for day one of the championship. The breeze started out of the north for the first few races in each division, then shifted to the west-northwest with large unpredictable shifts. Velocity ranged from 4-12 throughout the day. Courses were windward-leeward with three, four, or five legs. One request for redress was denied. One protest was filed resulting in one DSQ.
Thanks very much to our judges who were on the water all day: Kelsey Wheeler, Bob Austin-LaFrance, and Frank Murphy. Also a huge thank you to our team of cadets who kept races running smoothly today: Matt Orgill, Josh Moan, Devon Rohde, Kayla Ellis, Avery Fanning, Harry Hoffman, Erin Morgan, and Lauren Cefali. First race at 10:15 tomorrow. Greg Wilkinson was a huge help as the ICSA rep.
In the morning on day two, a dying northerly allowed for only one A-Division race to be completed before it became too light to race. Competitors were sent to shore for an extended period of time until a very light westerly filled at around 1:30. Only two more races in A-Division and three in B-Division were sailed before the 3pm cutoff. All courses were W4s.
One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ. One request for redress was filed and denied. Thank you to Kelsey Wheeler, Bob Austin-LaFrance, and Leo Berendes for serving as judges today. Rob Migliaccio was on the water all day taking photos, look for a link to those soon.
Another crew of Coast Guard sailors were on hand today to keep the races moving as quickly as possible and the course as square as possible. A huge thanks to Jaimie Chicoine, Brad Brown, Dylan Finneran, Jenny Lane, Kayla Ellis, Robert Turley, Savannah Kuntz, Alex Paggi, and Daria McKenna.
Congratulations to the US Naval Academy for winning both the Coed and Women's Atlantic Coast Championship - a very impressive weekend for the Midshipmen! Have a great winter offseason, see you all in spring!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
