Nine women's teams arrived at the US Sailing Center Long Beach to heavy fog and no breeze Saturday morning. After rigging up PRO Mike Segerblom laid out the plan for the day. The group held onshore until 10:45 and the breeze started to fill in. After a short sail/tow to the race course off the Long Beach Pier the races were started alternating with the PCCSC Men's Singlehanded Championship starts.
Trapezoid courses with the lasers on the outer loop and ladies in CFJ's were sailed for the first five races (3 A and 2 B). The breeze ranged from 5-9 kts with a few short gusts over 10kts.
Around 1500 the breeze started to die and clock to the WNW. The whole race course was picked up and rotated to match the new breeze and the courses changed from a trapezoid to windward/leeward once around. Three more races (1 A and 2 B) were sailed in the new configuration before calling it a day.
A thick marine layer arrived with the sailors Sunday morning. The wind would start to fill in and then die off so the decision was made to hold the fleet on shore for a brief delay.
By 1045 the group was departing the dock for the course. The wind was shifty and struggled to fill on the course until about 1345. Three races were sailed in each division before the time limit.
Congratulations to the UCSB Sailing Team for sailing a very consistent regatta.
After review of the RP Forms, UCLA is disqualified from one or more races for using an unregistered sailor in accordance with ICSA PR 15 c):
ICSA PR 15 c):Use of Ineligible Student-Athlete - A college using an ineligible student-athlete, as defined by PR 12, in competition, or a college which allows a student-athlete to compete who has not met the requirements of PR 13 and PR 14, shall, unless another penalty applies, be disqualified from the affected races, without a hearing, and those races shall be re-scored according to RRS A6. Requests for reinstatement shall be fully documented and sent to the college’s Conference Commissioner, who shall send the documentation, with a recommendation for action, to the ICSA Appeals Committee, which shall make the final ruling (Changes RRS 63.1 & A4.1 or D3.1) (See also PR 23 & PR 24 or PR 25)
