The 9th annual Richard B. Ross Memorial College Bowl will be sailed in Boston Harbor on October 5, 2013 out of Courageous Sailing in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The regatta was established in 2004 by Judi Ross Zuker to commemorate the life of her husband Richard Ross. A passionate sailor and a believer in the transformative power of education, Richard took great pleasure in cultivating a love for sailing in others. Though his life was tragically lost in the attacks of September 11th, 2001, his family continues to honor his zeal for sailing and education by providing generous support to the Courageous Sailing Youth Program in his name. Since 2009, the Richard B. Ross Memorial College Bowl has been a fixture of the New England college-sailing circuit, and draws some of the areas top teams. The one-day event is sailed in the same Rhodes 19's keel boats that serve as the core fleet for the Courageous Summer Youth Program.
This years regatta featured 14 college teams from 8 colleges, as well as one alumni boat. The regatta was delayed at the start due to a lack of wind, but the harbor wind picked up from the Southeast and five races were sailed, the last 3 in moderate wind conditions. The racing was tight, as the top 6 boats finished within 4 points of each other. Congratulations to Tufts' Casey Gowrie '16 and Max Bennet '16 who won the Richard B. Ross Memorial College Bowl, to Plymouth State and Bentley for finishing second and third respectively, and to all the other teams who participated.
NOTE: Three non-ISCA teams raced in the regatta. Plymouth State sent two teams, one of whom finished 2nd. Their scores are under the name "Colleges of the Fenway Fenway" and "Colleges of the Fenway Fenway 2". A pair of Lesley Alumni, who sail often at Courageous, also raced. Their scores are under the name "British University Sailing Team British U". Wherever you see either "Colleges of the Fenway" or "British University Sailing Team," please mentally replace them with "Plymouth State" and "Lesley Alums" respectively.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
