Laser South

Summary

Saturday, September 14:

The first day of the 2013 Laser South Regatta was held on a beautiful day in Annapolis, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 70s. The wind was from the NW at 5-15 knots and a windward leeward course was set in the Severn River, right off the Robert Crown Center. With big puffs and large oscillations all day, the fleet was definitely challenged. We ran six races before a lunch break and then another 6 to finish off the day as the wind decreased and the conditions became dicier. One breakdown was granted for a broken hiking strap.

Sunday, September 15:

Sunday was another gorgeous day, but unfortunately, the wind did not cooperate early on. After numerous failed attempts to get racing, a nice southerly breeze filled in a little after noon and a course was set in the Severn River, just inside Greenberry Point. The wind built to the low teens throughout the afternoon and 6 quality races were completed to close out the regatta. Congratulations to the top 6 who qualified for the Carl Van Duyne MAISA Mens Singlehanded Championship at Kings Point on October 12-13 and especially to Georgetown's Nevin Snow for winning the 2013 Laser South Regatta.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
