KP Dinghy Open

A day for the windy crews at the KPDO! We started the day with a medium south westerly. At around 11:30 the forecast proved to be correct with the breeze ramping up into the 20s. During race 5 racing turned into survival mode with gusts over 25knots. We had an extended lunch break waiting for the wind to die a bit. Around 2:15 we went back out but only used 1 fleet of boats to make things more manageable. Great heavy air racing took place and sailors seemed to enjoy it!

3 protests were heard resulting in two DSQ's. Only 1 breakdown was granted.

Day two at the KPDO had a very shifty and puffy West North Westerly breeze direction. The pressure ranged from 6-17 knots. We started race 9A before 9:50 and finished with 16 races in each division around 2:15. We had an extended morning with no lunch break and finished the event earlier allowing teams plenty of time to drive home. Courses were W-4's with offset and gate all weekend.

1 protest was hear resulting in a DSQ. Army was a no-show. Thanks to Russ O'Reilly for hearing the protest and to the KP Midshipmen for setting marks.
