It was a beautiful day for racing on the Charles River with a 10-18 knot shifty southerly breeze with gusts into the upper 20's. 10 races were run per division in FJ's and fireflies by Sailing Master Franny Charles with on the water help from MITNA member Aiden Doherty and BU sailing team member Sam Campbell in the finish boat. Shore side operations were run by BU sailing coach Stan Shreyer and MIT coach Matt Lindblad with help from Wally Corwin and Phil Gilbert. Competitors were treated to an exciting catboat capsize and recovery operation.
Thanks to judges John Moulthrop HWS '10, Sean Bouchard RWU '12 and Matt Conover BU '07 who heard 3 protests, 1 breakdown, and 1 scoring inquiry resulting in 2 DSQ's, and 1 redress.
Early morning clouds over the Charles River gave way to sunshine by mid-day. A light West by Northwest breeze built throughout the day, and the final races were held in about 12 knots of wind. Seven races were held for three divisions racing in a fleet of Fireflies and a fleet of FJ’s. MIT Sailing Master Fran Charles ran races with the help of MITNA member Aiden Doherty and Sam Campbell (BU ’17). Shore side operations were run by MIT coach Matt Linblad (SMC ’99), Stewart Craig, Mike Costello, Wally Corwin, and Stan Schreyer (BU ’99). John Moulthrop (HWS ’10) was the chief judge. Two protests were heard and disallowed. 2 breakdown hearings took place, one of which was awarded. Congratulations to the Boston College Eagles for their win at the Hatch Brown Trophy.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
