A shifty, westerly breeze at 10 knots greeted the Thames River in the morning, bringing in great racing until 3 pm. The shifts allowed losing teams to unbalance easily, keeping racing close until the very end. Many thanks to our umpire, John Moulthrop, for keeping sailors honest throughout the day. After 42 Races Harvard leads the pack with a 7-1 record.
Decent Breeze from the south west opened Sunday at the Hap Moore. Some competitive races were sailed under these shifty conditions to complete the first round robin. Protests were filed and heard, teams were ranked and sorted. A big storm rolled through at the commencement of the second round, a single round robin Gold, Silver and Bronze round. Once the breeze steadied out from the incoming inclement weather a strong northweterly breeze showed gusting up to 20 knots! Unfortunately, the delay left little time before the deadline. The Silver and Bronze rounds were abandoned allowing sailors to scurry to shore. The Golden division braved the weather, however, and a winner was found. Roger Williams University was crowned champion to the 2013 Hap Moore Team Race.
