George Warren Smith was a professor of mechanical engineering at MIT who volunteered countless weekends helping run intercollegiate races in the 1960s and 70s. He was an active star boat sailor into his 90s at the Sandy Bay YC in Rockport, MA.
A feeble gradient East wind finally pulsed into the Charles River around 1pm and the racers took advantage getting in 6 races in both divisions. Courses were Outer Trapezoid for the Fireflies, A Division and Inner Traps for the Tech Dinghies in B Division.
MIT's sailing team volunteered to do finishes and scoring led by Laura Dunphy. The Jumbos felt right at home winning both divisions with a stellar performance by all 4 sailors in the light and shifty conditions.
No protests and no breakdowns were filed in a fun afternoon of balmy and tricky sailing.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
