With 19 teams sailing, the Dark of Night proved to be a huge success, even if the wind didn’t hold out for us. After an unseasonably warm day, the first race got off moments after sunset, causing a few delays as distracted sailors pulled out phones and cameras to snap a few shots. Due to the number of teams, A and B alternated, with A racing one race before coming in and switching with B. Between races, sailors mingled, warmed up with hot chocolate, and a lucky few even got some of the nachos before they were devoured by some stampeding Jumbos and very hungry Bears.
A beautiful day gave way to a very gorgeous but light air evening in Medford. As a contrast to the previous two evenings, temps were normal but the wind dropped to South on average, shifty, and only one knot for the first three races. Race 4 saw three knots and a longer course. The course was reach in, leeward, windward, reach back with start/finish right next to the Bacow Sailing Pavilion. The last race had an added windward/leeward with gates at top and bottom. All marks were dimly lit with withering flashlights. Officially there were not enough races to make the regatta official, nor was there a enough wind at the start to make any races really official but they were fair enough to determine the best team for the evening. The lights on the boats were bright enough to see the jib and to see every other boat. A spectacular sunset was replaced by the bright glow of the moon lighting up the high wispy clouds.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
