Saturday morning saw a light N-NE breeze that died during the competitors meeting and racing was postponed. After a 45 minute delay the fleet was sent out in a 4-7 knot Northerly. Two races were sailed in each division and the breeze died once again. After a lengthy postponement ashore that very much felt like we were done for the day, a miraculous 6-8 knot Southerly filled in and racing resumed at 3:00pm. Four more races were sailed in each division. All courses were W-4’s. The current was ebbing all day causing many general recalls in the afternoon while the one minute rule was in effect for all starts.
There were two protests resulting in three DSQ’s and no breakdowns. Thank you to John Mollicone, Ward Cromwell, Charles Higgins and Jeff Bresnahan for taking the time to preside over the protests. The Yale Bulldogs are currently leading by eleven points.
The divisions switched fleets on Sunday morning. Everyone was sent out in a dying NNE breeze with the hope of getting a set in but it was not meant to be. After waiting for 45 minutes everyone was sent in for an early lunch break. A light but unsteady easterly started to fill in around 12:15 and the fleets were sent back out to a course that was set up south of Jacob’s Rock. With a strong ebb and wind ranging from 3-8 knots from the ESE, four more races were sailed in each division. Challenging conditions for sailors and race management alike. There were a few general recalls, one protest heard resulting in a DSQ and no breakdowns.
Thanks to the Coast Guard cadets led by 1/c Brad Milliken for running the races, helping out on the docks and managing the sailing center. Also, thank you to ICSA Rep. Jeff Bresnahan! Congratulations to the Yale Bulldogs that led the regatta wire to wire and winning the 2013 Danmark Trophy by 19 points.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
