The Charleston Harbor was glassed over this morning as sailors arrived to the J Stewart Walker Jr. Sailing Center. Following a brief skippers meeting sailors launched their boats, coaches loaded up in motor boats and towed out the extra sailors in J-22's. After an hour delay on Crab Bank, a shifty easterly filled at 4-7 knots. The tide switch and a large southerly lean in the wind had many competitors scratching their heads throughout the day. Coach Greg did a great job working with the Cougar undergrads to keep the course straight, completing nine races in each division. All races were W 4's with offsets and gates. Thanks to Sam Ingham, Mac Mace, Tanya Cupnik & Sam Stokes for being on the water as judges and keeping everyone honest. No protests or breakdowns were filled. It was 72 degrees and sunny!!
The light easterly wind faded away as sailors made their way to Crab Bank. The sky was cloudy and still but the current was ripping! Shortly after 11:00 a 3-6 knot easterly wind trickled on to Crab Bank. The wind was shifty and finding the velocity was key. The wind trended left as the day progressed and the tide slacked.
As the ominous clouds to the west moved out into the ocean during races 13B & 14A the wind shifted to the SE and got really soft. The races were finished and A division was sent to the marina. The RC fixed the course and started race 14B in a 4 knot SE wind that faded on the last run. B division was towed to the harbor in a light rain and 70 degree temps.
The RC and competitors were all challenged this weekend! Thanks to everyone who helped manage the races, the judges, and the competitors for a great event!
All courses were W4's with offsets and gates. No protests were filed. One redress for a break down was filed then withdrawn.
Congratulations to the Hoyas on the victory.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
