Competition for the Shields Trophy first began in 1963. It is an offshore regatta held annually among the Service Academies. Nine teams competed in the 2012 event sailed in Navy 44 class boats. Saturday brought clear skies and a shifty NW breeze of 12-16 knots. Four double windward-leeward races, each lasting about 1 hour, were completed.
On Sunday, the high pressure settled in the region and winds dropped to 5 knots. However one additional race was completed before races were called for the day.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
