Mascoma Lake, named for the Abnaki word meaning "much grass", "salmon fishing", or "red rocks", provided an excellent day of racing for the Mascoma Invite (Northern Series #2). A 5-12 kt southerly breeze allowed for five races in combined divisions to be sailed before lunch. Sailors were more challenged in the afternoon, as a westerly breeze filled over the hills to fight the southerly and create a variety of large shifts and pressure changes.
Despite the miserable forecast, Mascoma cooperated once again, bearing a 8-15 kt northerly breeze, and clear skies early Sunday morning. A Bates sailor suffered a minor head injury, but was able to return for later races. Thanks to the UMass Dartmouth coaches for their assistance on shore. Congratulations to the Dartmouth Big Green for winning the event!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
