Women's Atlantic Coast Championship

Summary

Saturday, November 12:

Competitors at the Women’s ACCs had beautiful conditions on the East River today, with a south breeze from 10-20 knots all day and tons of sunshine, albeit with chilly temperatures. Racing began promptly at 10:00 AM and eight races were completed in each division. At the end of the day the B division boats hit the dock a few minutes after sunset. A big thanks goes out to the Maritime sailors for their hard work keeping the racing fair and efficient all day. Seven protests were filed resulting in four DSQs. Thanks to Jesse Combs, John Stock III, Ian Burman, Nick Ewenson, Brian Clancy, Dan Thompson and Mike Callahan for hearing the protests after a long day of racing. After day 1, Brown leads in a close battle with Yale, Charleston, and Georgetown right on their heels. Full scores can be found at: http://scores.collegesailing.info/f11/women-atlantic-coast/

Sunday, November 13:

Sunday brought similar conditions for the Women’s ACC competitors but with a bit lighter breeze. 6 races were completed in each division to bring the total to 14 races each. Most of the races over the weekend were W6’s due to our proximity to the very active East river shipping channel with a few W4’s peppered in when the breeze got light. Another great day of racing and again my thanks go out to the Maritime sailors for running a great event. Thanks also to Nick Ewenson for hearing a breakdown request, resulting in average points awarded to Georgetown in race 12A.

Congratulations to Yale for winning this year’s Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship in a tie-breaker over the University of Rhode Island and one point clear of Dartmouth.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
