Sailors were greeted this morning to heavy rains and strong breeze on the Elizabeth River. A combination of wind, lightning, and very high tides that made launching at times treacherous prevented racing from starting until 12:35.
4 races were sailed in a building WSW breeze from 15 knots that quickly picked up into the low 20s, and peaked with gusts in the mid 30s which prompted the sailors to again be postponed ashore.
After sitting on shore for a couple of hours and watching the high-flying kite boarding entertainment provided by ODU sailor Mark Miedama, racing was called for the day at 4:00 pm.
A big thanks to the ODU Monarch sailors for braving the conditions, running the races, and providing rescue services.
10 races were completed on a sunny Sunday to complete the MAISA Top 9 Regatta. The day started with a NW breeze at around 15 knots but quickly subsided as it shifted to the North where a convergence zone made for a shifty 5-10 knot headache. With only 7 teams the scores were combined. The B-division boat from Navy sailed by Markus Ederan and Kristin Rovito took the overall spot, while the Old Dominion Monarchs stayed strong to take the overall regatta. Again a big thanks to the ODU Sailors for running a great event and completing the rotation.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
