Radial Open

Summary

Saturday, September 10:

Racing began in the Severn River this morning at 10am in a northerly breeze between 3 and 5 knots. Two races were sailed before the breeze faded and sailors took a 40 minute lunch break at 11:45. After lunch the fleet was relocated to Annapolis Harbor and then again to the Navy N Cove where lots of waiting for breeze occurred. Eventually 3 additional races were completed in very light conditions to bring the total to 5 on the day.

Nice effort by the sailors with keeping things honest. No protests were filed and zero rule 42 penalties were given out. Thanks to our team of Midshipmen for moving marks all day in the light and shifty breeze. And another big thank you to our Rule 42 enforcer today, Herb Larrabee.

Sunday, September 11:

Sailors arrived to the RCC today to some pretty dense fog and zero wind. The fleet was then postponed ashore until noon when an very light southerly began to fill in Annapolis Harbor. The breeze eventually solidified and 3 races were completed before the wind totally died at around 4pm. All races for the weekend were W4s with a windward offset and a gate. Again, zero protests were filed and no rule 42 calls were made. Congratulations to the 10 or so boats who will advance to the MAISA Singlehanded Championships to be held at Navy on September 24 and 25.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
