Laser North #1

Summary

Saturday, September 11:

Saturday: A very frustrating light northerly teased the RC throughout the morning, but refused to find consistent direction or windspeed greater than 3 knots. At 2:00, the seabreeze cancelled out the northerly and sailors waiting ashore until 3:30. With a light northerly still at all point on the South Shore of Long Island, the RC abandoned racing for the day.

Sunday: A light easterly at 4-8 knots slowly clocked right throughout the day. With the wind blowing off the shore, conditions were very shifty and a strong current made RC work very difficult. 11 races were completed before reaching the 4:00 PM cutoff time.

3 HWS sailors, one Cornell sailor and one SUNY Maritime sailor qualified, with the last berth being decided in the final race of the regatta.

No protests were filed and 2 breakdowns were granted for a broken mainsheet block and broken top section.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
