Captain Hurst Bowl

Summary

Saturday, October 16:

Saturday: A fantastic day of college sailing in the north country! Eight races were sailed in each division in terrific conditions on Lake Mascoma. The races were between 15 and 22 minutes for the leaders and were mostly sailed in over 15 knots of breeze. There were a few large gusts that provided brief moments of FJ planning excitement. For a short taste of old-school flavor, each division sailed one Course 5 to mix it up. All other races were W4s. The jury of Patrick and Scott Hogan heard one protest resulting in a DSQ for BU.

Sunday: Though it took a while for the breeze to settle, eventually Lake Mascoma provided another champagne day of college sailing. Six races were sailed in each division. The final two in B division were both Course 5, again providing a hint of the old-school. Many thanks to our terrific jury of Scott Hogan, Patrick Hogan, and Brian Doyle for their assistance. Their efforts resulted in two granted redresses for breakdowns. There were also two RAFs in today's racing. Tremendous thanks to Bo McClathcy and Chris Price for sacrificing their weekends to help with RC work. Peter Hughes was our scorer and did well despite some frustrating moments with tech score. With 14 races in each division sailed in great breeze, it was a very well contested event. Congrats to the Harvard Crimson on a solid performance and winning the event.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
